A message from the editor

Confession time: I love meeting new people and, no doubt frustratingly for some of them (sorry), will usually quiz them to discover what it is that makes them tick. Creating a magazine that provided a means of satisfying this personal interest in – well – interesting people, was therefore a no-brainer. I hope my inquisitiveness is shared by others and you will enjoy reading the stories of the people of Kent as much as I have had discovering them.

5/45 is a magazine primarily about people – it may refer to places, talk about events and discuss objects or ideas but, ultimately, it aims to introduce you to the wonderful mix of people whose unique characters, skills and visions are responsible for all of these things and, subsequently, combine to define our day-to-day lives and give our county its personality. Some of them may have achieved ‘celebrity’ status or notoriety but that isn’t the magazine’s focus – 5/45 aims to explore and celebrate everyone and anyone who has an interesting story to tell because it is this diverse community that makes life so interesting.

Special thanks needs to be given to resident photographer, Charlotte, who has thankfully been by my side with her trusty camera capturing the beautiful images that bring each article to life. We have been fortunate enough to meet so many great characters already but are both really looking forward to seeing where the magazine will take us next.
